Every Monday there is a street market in the High Street, it occupies the High Street from end to end which is closed for the day. A very busy little market that attracts large numbers of visitors every week, summer or winter.

Every Thursday either in Saxon Square or the Co Op car park is the Country Faye, starting at 9 a.m. stalls sell their goods from the country.

The first Friday of every month the Dorset farmers market will be found in the Saxon Square selling a wide variety of home grown produce. Not a weekly event but as near as damn it.

Bouncers - Arena Theatre 11th - 12th February 2010

Bursting with imagination and wit and presented by just five actors, Bouncers is an outrageous and hilarious parody of the disco scene in the 1980's. The four brutish bouncers of the title plus one, portray over 20 characters as we are invited for a night out on the town. We see them as giggly girls and lads on the make preparing for the big night out as we follow their progress to the disco floor. Not suitable for young children as contains language that some may find offensive

Errol Kennedy's Imagination 13th February 2010

Errol Kennedy was one of the three original members of the 80s soul/funk band, Imagination.  Their first hit single, Body Talk, spent 18 weeks in the UK charts.  It was quickly followed by two more chart toppers, In and Out of Love and Flashback.  Their Body Talk album went platinum and their next single, Just An Illusion, reached No. 2 in the chart.  During the 1980s they performed before Princess Diana at The Albert Hall and for Princess Grace in Monaco.  Though the band split in 1987 Errol Kennedy continued to tour with Odyssey, Shalamar and Rose Royce.   Now his own band will perform all those Imagination hits and the music from other classic soul/funk stars

Summer of Love - New Amen Corner 14th February 2010

The ultimate Psychedelic 60’s show Turn on; Tune In (A musical trip that changed the world)The Summer of Love show is full of some of the world’s greatest pop songs ever written and will surely take you back to those kaleidoscope days of the psychedelic 60’s.

The Bohemians (Queen Tribute) 19th February 2010

This fantastic presentation is the favourite tribute band of the Queen Official Fan Club and is not just endorsed by them but, as you will see from the attached poster, is highly regarded by Queen members Roger Taylor and Brian May.  Having seen them, Kate Moss booked them for her wedding!

Phil Cool 20th February 2010

After watching the new Phil Cool show you won’t realise that two hours plus has flown by, because you will have been spellbound by a rich diversity of his original material delivered in Phil’s unique style.

Beware, you might just bust a gut when his Billy Connolly tries to teach you of the perils of using too many profanities by slipping into the entire cast of Dad’s army.  Well, no doubt you’ll all have your favourites, Phil’s happens to be his Paul McCartney bringing John Lennon back to life by means of a tape recorder.

The Crucible 23rd - 26th February 2010

Following their sell out success last year with Jamaica Inn, Director John King and his talented cast pull out all of the stops for one of the most powerful plays in American literature.  The Crucible is an absolute classic that won the Best Play Tony award in 1953 for Arthur Miller.  It is set around the infamous Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts during 1692.  The plot highlights the hysteria that hit the New England colonies and was viewed as a veiled condemnation of the anti communist witch hunt conducted by the notorious Senator Joseph McCarthy during the 50s.  This is a gripping historical tale of puritanical purges and is a warning to contemporary society of the dangers of authoritarian bigotry.  The lies of a malicious young servant girl are enough to arouse a whole town against 19 innocent people.  The ensuing trial is an edge of the seat affair in which a one way trip to the gallows looks like the inevitable verdict.

Marty Wilde 27th February 2010

This icon to the British rock and roll movement gives an electric performance which celebrates the glory and brilliance of an era that would inspire the British youth-culture across two decades and shape the future of the British music scene. The performance includes songs from Marty's own library of hits, 'Teenager in Love', 'Jesamine', 'Bad Boy', 'Rubber Ball', 'Sea of Love' and many more.
