Every Monday there is a street market in the High Street, it occupies the High Street from end to end which is closed for the day. A very busy little market that attracts large numbers of visitors every week, summer or winter.

Every Thursday either in Saxon Square or the Co Op car park is the Country Faye, starting at 9 a.m. stalls sell their goods from the country.

The first Friday of every month the Dorset farmers market will be found in the Saxon Square selling a wide variety of home grown produce. Not a weekly event but as near as damn it.

Japanese embroidery is one of the most beautiful and expressive forms of surface decoration. The UK Japanese Embroidery Guild now has many qualified teachers who have studied for over ten years and it is now possible to study with a teacher at monthly classes near you.
To carry on the tradition of Japanese embroidery, all students can only use the traditional Japanese frame, tekoban, awl and handmade needles that have been made to the same design for over a thousand years.
Embroiderer Robert Fielder, resident artist at Place Mill on Christchurch Quay, demonstrates this beautiful form of art throughout the summer season and also teaches individuals and small groups. Place Mill is open daily Tuesdays to Sundays from 11am - 5.30pm tel: 01202 487626.
