Place Mill dates back to the 1200's and has been used to mill flour and
finish clothing, we know it was working until 1908 when damage caused by
the constant vibration of the machinery rendered it uneconomic to repair.
Christchurch Borough Council restored the building in 1981 and ever since
it has opened during the summer months to promote the work of local artists
and craftsman. The Mill displays a collection of milling artefacts and
is always worth a visit.
Located at the Town Quay, just off the Quomps it is worth a visit when
you are in that area. |
